WHAT TEACHERS MAKE

I've got a lot of teacher friends and other associates in the education industry, so this is all for them. I have unwavering and overwhelming respect for you all.

DIGG ME!

Since I'm totally part of the Web 2.0 scene, I'm trying to get into this Read/Write Web kinda thing. To that end, I've added some schnazzy cool buttons below each post - just click those to add to your aggregator/bookmarker of choice.

I've also posted one of my personal favorite writings to Digg - go take a look and tell everyone you love it!

FUNNY CHURCH BULLETIN OF THE DAY

What? Another post?? On the same day???

It's a BLOG-A-PALOOOOOZA!

My mother-in-law gave me one of those page-a-day calendars for Christmas '06 called "365 Stupidest Sayings" or something like that. This recent one made me stop down for a good chuckle:

Our youth basketball team is back in action Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the recreation hall. Come out and watch us kill Christ the King.

FOUND ANOTHER BLOG: UNCLUTTERER

I originally came to this blog because of this great article about creating a "landing strip" for your house - a place where you can drop all your stuff safely and in an organized way when you're exhausted at the end of the day.

Cool enough, but when I saw that header image (click to visit the blog and see it full size), I immediately added this one to my reader.

Good content + Good sense of humor = I'm interested.

POTPOURRI II

For some flash-back fun, check out Potpourri I.

  • I got these earbuds recently, and I'm tickled pink with the fact that they faithfully reproduce frequencies from 5 to 24,000 Hz! Yep folks, I'm a geek.

  • Babies can't dance. However, you can wave their arms around as if they were dancing. Best baby fake-dances include: The Lawnmower, The Cabbage Patch and The Sprinkler.

  • Today, I'm wearing a new pair of jeans that I purchased from Wal-Mart for $7, and I think they are as cool or even... wait for it... COOLER than any pair of jeans I have owned before.

  • SOME time in my corporate life, to complete my eternal aspirations, I want some big-wig to walk in to a large meeting with tons of people and begin with "What up, my homies!"

  • I want to be an Internet Ninja. Not to be confused with Ask a Ninja.

SPOUSE NOTES

This blog was never intended to be completely about babies, parenting, or cute pictures - even though my Google ads over there might occasionally lead you to believe otherwise.

So let's wean ourselves off babies (blog-istically speaking) by moving to a related topic: Spouses.

I found this great site called Spouse Notes, where people from all over the world submit pictures of the notes their spouse left for them, or vice versa. We all know that every couple rapidly develops their own internal language full of inside jokes, nicknames and reassigned definitions. Seeing that in practice in other people is heartening, hilarious, and sometimes just non-sequitur.

This note is my current favorite. Translated from French, it says

I love you very very very much Honey, but don’t forget, no whores after 11PM please.

XXXXX

CONFESSIONS, PART II

  • That picture has nothing to do with this post - I just wanted to put it in there because he's cute.

  • I'm secretly happy every time Lukas goes on a wailing spree at night, because our "neighbors" who share the wall behind the headboard of our bed have been playing loud rap music at the worst possible times ever since we moved in. Serves 'em right.

  • The Umbilical Cord just isn't human. It looks like something from a sci-fi movie. If computers ever advance to the point where we're using artificial-life driven processing power and genetically engineered bio-processors, they'd better not make the cord on my mouse look like an Umbilical Cord, or I'm not gonna use it.

  • If you're asleep for 3 hours, then awake for 1 hour, then asleep for 3 hours, then awake for 1 hour, then asleep for 3 hours, your body believes it has been awake for a total of 36 hours, and has slept for about 3 seconds.

  • Newborn baby diapers aren't that bad. They look like tar in a blanket, but they don't smell. I've heard they get worse from here.

  • Despite all I've been through, I still think the word "nipple" is funny.

  • Yes, you can assemble a bottle and a breast pump while asleep and in the dark.

  • Baby hiccups are funny, even though you feel like they're not supposed to be

  • There's a chemical byproduct of birth that babies gradually get rid of through their waste that's called Billiruben. This is the same thing that causes babies to get jaundiced and have to be baked under UV lights. It's also the stupidest-sounding medical term you will hear in a nursery.

  • I've never been more excited or cracked up by a sneeze, fart, burp or face than when my son does them.
